Cultural Axareness

On Dec.23ed, I had dinner with Grade 12 and my group members in Tacos. The restaurant is at Zhu JiangRoad. Tacos is a café of Mexico restaurant, so all the food is from Mexico.The restaurant has many kinds of food, such as grilled chicken wings, baked chicken and rice, beefsteak, milk tea, beef noodles, etc. However, there was a bad thing happened.[ ToT(crying face)]

At the first, we decided to go to the Sala Restaurant. However when we went there by taxi, the restaurant was closed. Bad luck!!!! Weather was cold. we stood on the street and talked about how to do next. At the end, we decided to Tacos. It is same restaurant with Sala. Lucky!! However, there was no taxi. we walked a long time and arrived at the end.

The restaurant was much warmer and quiet, but we were coming, it got noisy. The environment is good, especially the washroom. There are less people in it and they are all adults. I looked at the menu for a long time, but I did not know what to eat. I order the noodles and baked potatoes. However I did not like them. They tasted not bad and not good, so, so. Maybe I did not order the representation food, so I could not find the differences clearly. The only one difference that I find is the way to make. In china, people seldom bake potatoes to eat. I was not satisfied with their service when we paied for the money.

The food was not very delicious, but ate with classmates was an interesting thing. Of course, planning before you are doing is also important. However I do not want to recommend other people to eat. 

Arts & Design

Everybody knows that art comes from the life but it is more profound than the life. Appreciation of art is an indispensable part of the life. At first, we need to learn how to appreciate the artworks.
As a result, on the December 4th, we went to the Nanjing University to visit the exhibition. This exhibition showed many famous sculptures. These artworks are contemporary. Most of them were made by Wu Weishan and a few of them were made by his teacher, Xiong Bingming. Now, Wu Weishan is the professor at Nanjing University, dean of fine arts in Nanjing University, superintendent of Sculpture Institute, the commissary of the China Democratic League Central Committee and the member of Chinese Artists Association and the Chinese Academy Of Sculpture. He also had many awards and throughout the different countries have his sculptures exhibition, such as China, Hong Kong, Netherlands and Korea. He is a very famous artist in the world of the art.
When I visited many beautiful sculptures, I felt surprised. These were too beautiful and the author was too amazing. How did he do like that? I was attracted by these sculptures. Of all these sculptures, I liked a sculpture called “Sleeping Child” best. It was made by Wu Weishan. It was one of the most famous sculptures that he made. This sculpture was made in 1996. It was made by clay and it was brown. The contour of the “Sleeping Child”is ellipse. At the first, I thought it is coarse, but it was smooth. The author was carving about a sleeping baby’s face. The baby’s face is round. He was very cute. His eyes closed and his mouth slightly opened, as if having a beautiful dream and wanting to say something about his dream.
This sculpture made me feel hopeful, peaceful, quiet and beautiful. The baby closed his eyes and slept. If you look carefully, you will find that when baby slept, his face was very placid. Maybe he dreamed some beautiful and interesting things or his unknown but successful future. When I looked at it, I cannot help but think of myself as a child and the beautiful childhood that I had. I liked my childhood just like the baby liked the world in his dream. The baby opened his mouth when he was sleeping, just like he wanted to talk everything under the sun.
I liked this artwork because of the baby who is sleeping. It made me remind my lovely childhood: act was like a spoiled child to my parents, if I did not feel happy, I would cry for a long time. When I was young, I had many unrealistic dreams and loved daydreaming. My mother told me that my face was just like the baby, so I like it. I thought other people might appreciate the artwork. I knew when everyone was young, they all had many beautiful dreams and enjoyed their childhood, just like the “Sleeping Child”.
The author is also like a baby. He is creative and has dreams and power that have not found. The special power of the creation can touch people’s heart deeply. I hope I can visit more beautiful artworks in the future. Art comes from the life but it is more profound than the life.
